Hotel 2/5 Reunion Quantico VA, October 14-17, 2021
Crossroads Inn, MCB Quantico, VA
What a long, strange year it has been. We are happy to finally release details of our long-awaited Quantico Reunion.
We are providing a roster of registrants to the base. There is 100% ID check at the gate. The roster allows security to pre-check your identity and will provide you access without processing through the provost office.
Oct 14. 1500 Registration opens at Crossroads Inn. We need some volunteers to man the registration table. The base requires all who take the bus tour to sign a waiver. We will provide the waiver at registration.
1800 Meet and Greet in the Hospitality Room. Sandwiches and beverages will be provided. There is no bar so if you want to drink, BYOB.
Oct 15. 0730 Base tour. Tour will include: Demonstration of Indoor Simulated Weapons Training and Virtual Convoy Combat Trainer, drive to the Basic School passing by Weapons Training Battalion and Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, The Basic School Command Brief, The Martial Arts Center for Excellence, demonstration, and stop at the base exchange. Vaccination is required to eat in the mess hall. Indicate if you need a box lunch to eat on the bus. Bring your vaccination card just in case.
Oct 16. 1000 Dennis Noah has arranged a visit the Museum of the Marine Corps and Ceremony at Our H2/5 plaque that so many of you generously donated for. We will have a Memorial Service at the plaque and read a list of our KIA Brothers. Lunch is on your own and there will be plenty of free time to explore.
Company meeting is in the hospitality room at 1630 prior to dinner. The meeting is important for planning our next reunion. We need to have volunteers to arrange the 2022 reunion. We will make the decision at the meeting of the location of the 2022 reunion. Dates are flexible. We have had several reunions out west and in the south. Maybe something in the Midwest or Northeast?
We will have our banquet Saturday evening at 1800 at the NCO Club close to the hotel. Saturday dinner is semi-formal so please wear your ribbons or medals. Semi-formal means suits and ties Marines, NO JUNGLE FATIGUES, NO JEANS! There will be a cash bar. Dennis and Sue Noah arranged for a buffet menu.
Our guest speaker is Dr. Tom Glen PhD. His presentation is “Bitter Memories, the Fall of Saigon.” The auction will follow dinner (The auction is a lot of fun and raises money to offset some of the unbudgeted cost of the reunion). We ask that attendees consider bringing an item to auction.
Oct 17. 0700 – 0900 Breakfast and Fellowship.
We have a block of 35 rooms reserved at the Crossroads Inn. The Inn has changed management companies and is unable to enter reservations until July 1. Room rates are $95/queen including tax and breakfast We suggest reserving as soon as possible after July 1. There is other lodging located close to the main gate if you wish to stay off base.
Cost of the reunion is $190/Marine or guest. Reservations can be made by completing the on-line registration on our website. Anyone who does not have a computer or email account can register by mail. Contact Joe Sonderman for more details. We do not accept cash. Please follow the directions on the registration form.
