Enjoying our time at the Nashville reunion visiting with veteran friends and touring Nashville we enjoyed The Hermitage plantation where President Jackson lived. The Lunch and musical show aboard The General Jackson Steamboat was amazing. Today we toured the Ryman Auditorium to see the stage where country music got its start.with the Grand Ole Opry. The pulled pork, baked beans and cornbread was a mighty fine meal at BB King’s Blues Club.
Another fantastic reunion. A couple of highlights from the reunion were the group telephone call to Jack “Mouse” Fouse who has recently had an implant enabling him to hear again and the challenge coin presented to the attendees by Don Allen on behalf of Elton Armstrong, who was unable to attend. More to follow in the newsletter.
I personally knew Mouse when he was in Vietnam. A great guy. It was so good to hear his voice and speak with him at the reunion. We will highlight his story in the future in this website.
I’d like to wish a Happy Marine Corps Birthday to all the attendees and their family members! Also, I want to thank James Hayden for hosting the reunion. I think he did a fine job! I could tell that it meant a lot to James to be able host this event for his fellow marines and their family members. Thanks again, Jim!
It’s been almost 47 years to the day since I first came to Hotel Company. It was about 2 weeks before the beginning of Operation Meade River that I came aboard. It took me only a short time to realize that the men of Hotel were a special group of individuals!
My two sons, my wife and I want to thank everyone who attended the reunion for their kindness, hospitality and their sense of family in welcoming us! Unfortunately, we missed the events on Friday, the 6th, because we have a dairy farm and were unable to attend. But, thankfully, we were at the banquet on Saturday night. That night was one of the most enjoyable times of our entire life! It was truly wonderful to be around such fine people and to reconnect with fellow marines from such a long time ago!
My wife and I hope very much that we’ll be able to attend the reunion next year in Pensacola. In closing, let me say that I have always felt very honored and humbled to be part of Hotel Company. May God Bless all of you and your families! Semper Fi!
